Jan Hubacek was born in Zlin, to the family of a seaman. After a year he spent in High School in USA, he studied film directing and screenwriting under Professor Stanislav Parnicky and Tomas Binter at FMK UTB Zlin.
He began to gain experience as an assistant director on awarded student megafilm “Comeback to the Red City” (2007). The following year he succeded with his short film “The Shoes” at Aerokratas Prague festival. Under director Dodo Gombar he studied staging of actors and at the same time shot “At Once” - critical documentary about Zlin theatre, raising a displeasure among its management.
In 2009 he left to study at Baltic film and Media school in Estonia. Then he directed his next short feature film “Romance of Noble Age” (starring Nina Diviskova) and started preparation for full length documentary film “Accept” about contemporary classical music. Summer of 2011 he spent on a an internship in Berlin and winter of 2013 in Stink London.
Now he is working as a freelancer both non-commercial and commercial projects.
