Three Czech films were included in the official program of this year’s Berlinale - We Are Never Alone, I, Olga Hepnarová and In Your Dreams!
The drama We are never alone (Nikdy nejsme sami) from the director Petr Václav was produced by Mimesis Film and is presented in the progressive Forum section. This exploration of modern day anxieties stars Lenka Vlasáková, Karel Roden, and the winner of last year’s Czech Lion award for best actress Klaudia Dudová.
I, Olga Hepnarová is included in Panorama section, and comes from the screenwriting/directing tandem Tomáš Weinreb and Petr Kazda. This co-production between Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and France tells the unique true story of a Czech mass murderer, a woman who, in 1975, was the last person to receive the death penalty in the Czech Republic.
In Your Dreams! is directed by Petr Oukropec and produced by Negativ. It screens in the section Generation 14+, focused on films for children and youth.

In addition to these official selections, there are a number of Czech producers that are participating in the festival’s co-production market. One such film is Outside, from Michal Hogenauer, whose student film Tambyless screened as part of the Cannes IFF in 2012.
The Czech Film Commission will attend the European Film Market in Berlin from February 13 until February 17. Producers and other film professionals attending the festival can meet Czech Film Commission representatives and learn more about the Czech Republic’s locations, film infrastructure and incentives for filmmakers.
Also in Berlin, representatives of the Czech Film Center will be on hand to introduce sales agents, exhibitors and festival programmers to the latest Czech films. Some of the Czech Republic’s leading filmmakers will also be stopping by pavilion to discuss their work and upcoming projects.
Filmmakers in Berlin can meet representatives of the Czech Film Commission and the Czech Film Center at the Central European Cinema booth No. 139 at the Martin Gropius Bau.
