Verbascum

Verbascum production company was founded by producer Richard Nemec in 1995; since 2000 Verbascum has been a limited liability company. Richard Nemec is the firm’s sole owner and producer. From the start Verbascum has focused on the production and executive production of shorts, features, and documentaries.

The majority of projects receive support from the State Fund for the Support and Development of the Czech Film Industry, and Czech Television is often a partner. Especially the films directed by Miroslav Janek have been successful, finding favor at numerous festivals and being sold to several foreign television stations. The company’s biggest project to date has been the fairy-tale spectacular "The Devil Knows Why" (Cert vi proc), an international coproduction supported by the Eurimages fund. Verbascum is a member of the Czech Audiovisual Producers' Association (APA), which in turn is a member of FIAPF.
