Since 2004 the Czech Film Commission has been promoting the Czech Republic and its infrastructure at major business events, such as the European Film Market at Berlinale, Marché du Film in Cannes and the AFCI Locations Show in Los Angeles; it has also contributed considerably to the Czech film industry’s current success. The Czech Republic is today undoubtedly among the most attractive destinations for filming. In 2015, over 30 international film and TV projects were shot in the Czech Republic, among them several big TV series, European co-productions, and American blockbusters. “More and more international productions are choosing the Czech Republic, particularly for historical films and TV series set in various periods. I believe that next to the well-performing film incentive system, it’s certainly very much also thanks to the variety of great locations the country offers and the quality and depth of our film crews,” said Ludmila Claussová from the Czech Film Commission. "This fall, for example, three historical TV series are shooting here: Britannia for Sky and Amazon, Knightfall for the History Channel and Genius for the National Geographic Channel, produced by Fox 21. They all are shooting an entire season with us and all together they will have spent nearly USD 100 million over a total of 330 filming days,” Claussová continued. FOCUS takes place at the Business Design Centre in London. At the Czech Film Commission booth (No. S06), you will have the opportunity to meet our newest colleague, Pavlina Zipkova. She has almost 20 years of experience in film and advertising production and is ready to answer any questions about filming in the Czech Republic you may have. Pavlina can also explain recent important changes in the incentive programme, which aim to streamline the system and allow producers greater flexibility.
