Representatives of the Czech Film Commission are in Mumbai this week to introduce Indian filmmakers to the production opportunities the Czech Republic offers. The Czech Film Commission and CzechTourism have invited Indian filmmakers to the JW Marriott Hotel Mumbai on April 27 for the presentation The Czech Republic as a Filming Location. “India has one of the world's largest film industries,” said Ludmila Claussova of the Czech Film Commission. “Indian producers want to capture diverse overseas location for their viewers at home and abroad.” Filmmakers who attend the presentation will learn about the Czech Republic's geography, culture and film industry, how to find the best Czech partner for their productions and how to access the Czech Republic's 20% production rebate. Attendees will also receive information about European visa requirements and entry formalities for film crews. The Czech Republic is not completely unknown to Indian filmmakers, of course. Just last year, the Czech Republic hosted a 31-day shoot of Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd.'s Rockstar. That production received a production rebate of CZK 6.4m through the Czech production rebate. “Naturally the rebate is a big attraction,” Claussova said.
But we also want to show Indian filmmakers the value they can find in the Czech Republic's diverse locations, highly-developed infrastructure and talented film professionals.
